Here is a brief guide about how to make the trip from Israel to Petra and back again in as little as one day (although you could stay overnight in Jordan if you preferred).

Would you recommend me to go having 12 days for everything (Israel + Petra)? Guided tour of Petra, with a full day to explore this incredible site. However you do the trip, Petra isn't a cheap trip from Israel because of entrance and border crossing fees, and because wherever you are in Israel, you will need to get from there to the border and then to Petra (which is also many hours of travel unless you have the budget to fly to Eilat or you are already in Eilat.). The cheapest option is probably to make your own way to Jordan (either via 2017-04-20 Re: Petra from Israel. Going to Petra involves a lot of driving and crossing the border twice so the 2 day Abraham Tour, for example, spends only half a day at Petra. If you take a two day tour from Eilat you will devote a total of 4 days to this tour - 1 day bus to Eilat (5+ hours), 2 days tour, 1 day bus back. Don’t let it scare you because Petra and Jordan are generally safe (because their border countries are the safest in the world – JK, stole that joke from our tour guide).
